In a Science Robotics study, researchers present a tiny gearbox that can amplify torque and force generated by small magnetic actuators. The gearbox is no bigger than 3 millimeters with tiny gears built as small as 270 micrometers.⁠ To test the gearbox’s functionality for different types of devices, researchers integrated it into a crawling robot, a syringe robot, and a jumping robot.
